What does a facial do?
A regular facial routine is more about skin health and integrity than it is about luxury or indulgence. Facials clean the surface of the skin, and deep clean the pores, extracting and exfoliating the skin to health. Facials increase circulation and stimulate the skin. They can also help slow down premature aging and drastically improve conditions such as acne, redness and rosacea. Facials are a great preventative treatment to help diminish wrinkles before they are noticeable, and can also help you achieve lighter, brighter, younger-looking skin.
What are the benefits of getting regular facials?
Your skin needs to be cleaned, detoxed, resurfaced, hydrated, moisturized and protected. Getting professional facials on a regular basis creates lasting habits of taking care of your skin. You can think of your skin like your body. If you want to get in top physical condition, you go to a trainer. It's the same for your skin. Facials, skin care treatments such as enzymes and peels, technology like ultrasonic, microderm and microcurrent, can take years off your face. Working with a professional will help you keep your skin at the optimal level of fitness, not just covered up with cosmetics.
How often do I need a facial?
Under normal conditions a facial every 4 to 6 weeks will give your beautiful, glowing skin. If you are looking to correct a skin condition such as hyperpigmentation or acne, your frequency may be adjusted according to your needs. Your facialist will make recommendations according to your skin.
Can I get a facial if I'm pregnant?
Yes. Your esthetician will adjust the products and technologies used for your facial according to your needs. You will be asked to complete a client information form that asks this and other health questions. It's very important to answer all questions carefully so that you will receive the correct service.
Can I get a facial if I've just had Botox or other injections?
Facial first! You must wait 14 days after receiving any injections to get a facial. Book your facial before your Botox, then your skin will be ready for whatever else you've got going.
Do I need to do anything before my facial?
You will be getting a lot of information when you talk with your skin therapist. If you have questions or concerns, write them down to discuss. If you have a product you want to know about, bring it in or take a pic. Be sure to know the names and dosage of any medications you are taking. You do not need to wear makeup to your appointment, but if you do that's fine too. Men receiving facial services should shave the night before. You should not get a facial if you are sunburned. Clients who have taken Accutane/Isotretinoin must wait 6 months before receiving any facial services. Retin-A/Tretinoin should be discontinued for 5-7 days before your appointment. Waxing should be done 2-3 days before your facial.
Will my skin be red after my facial?
Most people experience a rosy glow after their facial. The skin has been exfoliated, possibly extracted and massaged, so it's possible that you will be rosier than usual. The best thing to do after a facial is go home and take a nap. You will have SPF on after your facial so you will be fine to continue on with your day. Mineral makeup is the best choice if you are going to apply makeup. Swimming and saunas are not recommended for a day or two after your facial.
How do I know what facial to get?
We recommend starting with a DBSC Classic Facial. This allows us to analyze your skin and determine your needs. We will also ask about your skin concerns and develop a plan to help you reach your goals.
